They are clearly masters of keeping out of sight. So it’s remarkable that the Pallas Cat remained undetected on the mountain all those years. Whereas a few thousand attempted the dangerous climb back then, now there are as many as 50 thousand annual visits. Since the 70s, visitors to Everest have gone up by many thousands. Heck, even their coloration and markings are like some owl species! To stay warm, they have the densest fur of any cat. Their scientific name, Otocolobus manul, translates to “ ugly-eared ,” but helps them hide in frigid temperatures. To complete the owl-like look, they are big rounded squat cats with low-set ears that look like an owl’s ear tufts. She is a classy kitten with a scowl that only the most disgusted cat could possess. Needless to say, Grumpy Cat will never be replaced but a new kitty has grabbed the internet’s attention and her name is Meow Meow, a big floof from Taiwan. The original Grumpy Cat graced our lives with his grumpiness and although he seemed like the grumpiest cat in the world, he brought a smile to each one of our faces and let us express our attitude towards minimal things through his grumpiness. You might know Tardar Sauce better as Grumpy Cat.
